Rhode Island Diner

I am excited to try this new diner. My in-laws recently moved back up to Oakley and this diner has been being renovated for the past while. They brought over a train car from Rhode Island, hence the name. I hope the food is as cool as the train.
Again, I apologize about yesterday. I was trying to juggle my recovery, Dr's appointments, and last minute costume making.

B.P. Fringe Wrap

The Yarn Queen and I were shopping one day in Target and she noticed a cute girl with a solid red scarf on. I asked her where she got it and she was kind enough to tell me that her sister gave it to her as a gift, but she was pretty sure that she bought it at TJ Maxx. We were lucky enough to go right over and grab one. It was only $15.00. I love that idea for a gift, a solid color scarf, something vibrant. I found this one at Nordstrom.
P.S. Sorry about yesterday, I was in surgery.

Help Kenidee See His Creations

Some of you may have seen this article in the Salt Lake Tribune a week or so ago. This sweet little Stansbury/Tooele girl was born blind and may have the opportunity to see through Umbilical Stem Cell treatments. You can donate to her cause here.

Pumpkin Walk @ Benson Grist Mill

Maybe not the most exciting fall event, but they've got hay rides for $1.00, you can't beat that. Going on today and tommorow.

Luxe Knit Gathered Tee @ J. Crew

I bought this shirt at J. Crew a couple of months ago, but I wasn't able to find it online at the time. Anyway, I bought it in honey glaze (aka: mustard), but now that mustard is getting a little tired, I am wishing I had bought it in white (sea salt), still love the honey glaze for now. J. Crew is having a big sale, it's one of the few things I can afford even on sale.

Pumpkin Bagels @ Einstein Bros.

I love how everything comes in pumpkin around Autumn. Especially pumpkin bagels, that's if you can get to Einstein's before they run out. I finally got some on my third attempt.

Homemade Egg Nog

I love egg nog, but I think the store bought kind is a bit potent so I mix it half and half with milk. But, this recipe is so easy and usually you have all the ingredients without going to the store, even better.

Serving size 1

1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup milk
2 Tbsp sugar
dash cinnamon

dash nutmeg

First, Mix the egg yolk, and the sugar together.
Next, mix in the milk and vanilla extract, and egg white in with it.
Then, put a dash of cinnamon, or a little more if you like cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.
Finally, Blend or mix well together, blend is a little better, but what ever is best for you.
After that everything should be done.:)

Inheritance Cycle

I am just barely getting into these books, as the third book was just released a while back. It feels good to find some books that are as fun to read as Harry Potter. Just finished Eragon, in the fifth chapter of Eldest.

Shelle Lindholm

I know, shocker, it's Sunday, but I felt guilty for not posting yesterday.
I am not normally a huge fan of wildlife for art, but Shelle Lindholm's work caught my eye. I love the vibrant colors. At first I thought they were oil pastels, but her medium is layering acrylics. I don't love much that's shown on her website, but there was a great bear piece at the Kalispell airport, it would have been so cute in "W"s new room I'm designing.

Biscoff Cinnamon Graham Crackers

I usually fly Southwest, but we flew to Montana on Delta. They served these crackers and they are the best graham crackers I have ever eaten.

Scarecrow Masquerade @ Wheeler Farm

If I wasn't leaving for here today........I would definitely be at Wheeler Farm. There are lots of fun fall festivals going on all over the valley.

I will be gone until next Friday. I have no idea if I will have internet access, you may not get another bolt until next Saturday. Ta Ta for now.

A photo of Kalispell, MT, but when I get there, I am certain it will be covered in snow.

Miss Purl

I bought the cutest glass owl cell phone charm from Miss Purl at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. The Duchess and the Yarn Queen stocked up on stitch markers (that come in sweet little tins) and magnets (that say things like "Knitters are Sexy"). She has an etsy shop, but a lot more to offer than what she has listed, great prices.

Cultural Hall

Most of you have probably seen these pieces at Deseret Book or other LDS store. I haven't bought one because I wanted to make sure that I really liked them and it wasn't just a phase. I still really like them. Cultural Hall has now branched out of Deseret Book and has a schedule of trunk shows at various Costcos between now and Christmas. Another reason I hadn't bought one yet is cost, but they are less than half of what they were at DB and half of what they are on their website. I usually prefer the panorama, but I like that you can personalize this one with whatever words you like. I have the schedule of which Costcos they will be at on which dates, e-mail me if you are interested.

Desert Edge Pub & Brewery

Desert Edge is on our regular list. We get the Rare Roast Beef on Rye with the House Pasta Salad and it never disappoints. My mouth is watering just talking about it.

The Worst Witch

I've got to get a copy of this movie, since they don't play it on basic television every year like they used to when I was a kid. At least we still have "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

Tumar

Although I was sick most of the day. I did come across an awesome vendor at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival last weekend. I loved Tumar's felt products and I'm just naturally drawn to handicrafts. "W" couldn't decide between a felt horse and cow, but I just thought that udder was so darn cute, so the cow it was. I also love their dutch-like felt shoes. I thought some of the bags and hats would make great Christmas presents.......ok, ok, I pretty muched loved it all. (PS, while shopping make sure you change the currency to USD, they're really not $1000.00)

Plan Toys

These toys are by no means new to the toy market, but I just love them. And not just because they are green. They are really simple, basic, great toys, worth the extra cash. Even great things for older kids.

We saw this concertina at Eco Baby Gear while we were in Portland and I'm really considering buying it for "W". He really enjoyed it.

Pankratz Pumpkin Patch

Tonight we head to the pumpkin patch so "W" can pick out his first pumpkin, ok second pumpkin, but first one that he gets to choose. Pumpkin patches can be hard to find. I am glad that we have a local pumpkin patch a couple of blocks away. When I was a kid, we always bought our pumpkins at Albertson's, but I think I will start a new tradition. All of the money made at the Pankratz Pumpkin Patch is donated to the LDS missionaries. (not sure of the exact address, but it's on West Vine St. in between 200 West and Coleman.)

Pumpkin Cake Dessert

I got this recipe from my MIL when I first met PBTB. I like to make it every fall and serve it with vanilla ice cream. It's so, so easy. I didn't have a pic, so that's not really what it looks like, but who can tell with all that ice cream?
1 Med Can Pumpkin

2 Lg Eggs

1 C Sugar

1 Tsp Salt

1/2 Tsp Ginger

1 Tsp. Cinnamon

1 1/2 C Milk

1 White Cake Mix

3/4 C Chopped Nuts (I use pecans)

1 Sq Margarine/Butter (melted)

Beat eggs slightly, add sugar, salt and spices, mix well, add pumpkin and milk alternately, pour into greased 9x13 glass pan.

Mix cake mix and nuts together, breaking up lumps in cake mix. Sprinkle over top of pumpkin mixture.

Pour melted butter/margarine over top of cake mix.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min or until knife comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

BHG Pumpkin Carving

I swear I have tried everything under the sun for pumpkin decorating (dremel, spray paint, luminary, etc.). So, I guess I will stick to the basics this year. BHG has lots of fun templates to choose from, but I like the feature where you create your own.
