The Big Book of Me

This is my very favorite baby book on the market. It has vintage illustrations and sweet little quotes. It also has ample space for recording everything from what makes baby smile to what makes baby mad. Another item I used to carry at my store.

Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum

Wow, that is one long title. We took a detour on the way home from Flaming Gorge and stopped at the Utah Field House Museum. The main part of the Dinosaur National Monument, the Quarry Visitor Center, has been closed indefinitely since 2006, so we stopped here instead. It was fascinating for the kids and the adults. "W" was more excited than your average 11 month old should be about a museum.

Sydney Love

Sydney Love from the Summer Quilted collection. I love that all of her collections are lined with a mini polka dot print. I saw this set at Senses Bath & Body in Vernal. After taking a look at the website, I am definitely more into the patent and distressed leather collections than some of the prints. I didn't see any of the quilted collections on the site, but I found them at e-bags. Aren't these the perfect buttercup color?

Sew Fun Vintage Patterns

My Aunt Carma e-mailed me the link to this cute site. Lots of fun vintage patterns. The toys are especially sweet.

Heading up to Flaming Gorge. I'm out 'til Wednesday.

Mighty World

I used to sell Mighty World toys at my store. I think they are fantastic. Lots of cute details, themes for boys and girls. I carried the flower shop (of course) and also the painters and construction workers. But, as we are headed out to Flaming Gorge this weekend, I thought this camping set was appropriate.

Salt Lake Bees for Fireworks

What's more american than baseball? Every year for the 24th of July we go to the Salt Lake Bees game. What better way to celebrate our state's heritage? And besides, they have excellent fireworks, because we all know that's the real reason I go. I usually knit during the game. I am not the biggest sports fan. I am so excited to take "W" to his first game. I think he will love it.

Worth of a Soul

I wish I could afford to buy the limited edition canvas of Liz Lemon Swindle's, Worth of a Soul. I have lots of temple pieces, but no Christ pieces. All "LDS people" have their favorite Christ piece. This is definitely mine. I love Swindle's version of Christ in most of her pieces. She uses a great model. I have always been taught your companionable art evokes emotion, need I say more?

Tiara Children's Boutique

OMGosh! I found the cutest children's boutique today. It is inhabiting an old yarn shop, the Yarn Queen and I used to hit. She makes a lot of the little girl clothing herself........to die for! But, the best part, they have equally as cute little boy clothing. The Knuckleheads line was sooooo adorable.

Here are some of my faves, the Gutterball and the Rockabilly. Love the hat, too.

Sundance Art Shack

I have been wanting to take some sort of art classes for a while. Sundance seems like the perfect place, with inspiration abound. They have a great variety of mediums; jewelry making, wheel-thrown pottery, watercolor or oil painting, printmaking, photography and charcoal and pencil drawing. Hmmmmm, can't decide.

Little Boy

Love this book. Found it at the Library yesterday. I usually find children's books with cute illustrations, only to find the writing is only marginal. This little book has an adorable story and illustrations.

Patch Sweater Hat

I saw this hat today at Kids Gap. I love it. I need it for "W". I'm kicking myself for not getting it. I guess I'll go back tomorrow.

James' Candy Co.

I wish Martha would have highlighted this salt water taffy last month so that I would have had time to order some for PBTB's birthday. He loves SWT, even the gross grocery store kind. He received a different pick of his favorite candy each day of his birthday week.

Fiveleft on Etsy

My next consumer endeavor before "W"s first birthday is our 8th wedding anniversary. I'm not finding anything of interest in bronze, so I'm thinking about this wallet for PBTB. His requirements for what constitutes a good wallet are the following; tri-fold, leather, non-bulky. I am not sure where he came up with this, but whatever. Fiveleft uses "found objects to make impressions on the leather. I like it. I am not sure if it has enough pockets for cards. I like the one-piece construction.

Activities for Babies

If "W" could talk, I think some days he might tell me he was going to die of boredom. It's hard to keep inventing games that peak his interest. I tried quite a few of these easy, simple games to play from Fun.Familyeducation.com. He was really enjoying it. They also have great activity ideas for kids k-12.

Youtube Hair & Makeup

I don't do hair & makeup. I am strictly a clothes kinda girl. However, if you have to do your own hair & makeup for a photo shoot for a friend. Youtube is where it's at. I needed that vintage pinup look.

Kids Ink Romper

I love these rompers for baby boys from Kids Ink (yes, of course the girl ones are cute, but it's easy to find cute girl stuff). They have an Ed Hardy look to them. (They also make diaper bags, bibs, and carseat covers, oh my!) They don't have any apparel on their website and I didn't find anywhere that had a great selection, but they're all great.
So, they are quite expensive, but maybe for a special occasion. C'mon, like you wouldn't consider it if it wasn't some fru fru baby dress. We perpetuate this "more girl than boy" boloney. Here are a few from various websites.

Little Black Sambo

I love, love, love this book. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid and was thrilled when they started publishing it again a few years back. It's about a little indian boy who comes across a tiger that takes his fine clothes. He turns the tiger to butter to get them back. I already have a larger version, but this is part of a Wee Series. I bought this one because it has all of the original illustrations. I bought mine in Bountiful at All Tucked In.

Anniversary Sale

You know which one I'm talking about. Nordstrom invented the Anniversary Sale. My heart is beating a little faster this week. It's torture really. They shouldn't send out the preview catalog until the first of next week. I could handle the suspense a little better. This catalog seriously has to be my favorite thing to get in the mail all year............yes, sorry Martha, but I know your comin' every month. It's what what we shoe addicts long for, it's tradition.

Pomegranate Tootsie Pop

First slurpees, now tootsie pops. Pomegranate must be the new "it" flavor. I tried one of these yesterday. Now, I was a tootsie pop fan before (cherry was my flavor of choice), but now, it's a toss-up. I bought it for 15 cents at my local independent pharmacy. Remember Mr. Owl?.....How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?

Pat's BBQ

Well, my parents are a bit carnivorous. They highly recommend this little BBQ place, and believe me, they are not the easiest to please when it comes to eateries. Live music, excellent ribs (I've had a taste of leftovers, yummy.) Apparently this is quite "the place" if you are looking for a gig. Note; they are only open until 3 Monday through Thursday, but Friday and Saturday are open for dinner. Similar to Zinn Bistro/Big City Soup, which are also excellent, maybe a trend.

Real Deals on Home Decor

Not sure how late I am on this one. The woman who is buying my floral cooler told me about Real Deals. They are open 2 days a week (all of them). She made a visit to the one in Ogden, but the website shows one in Holladay. It may be a little too folky for my taste, but I know from experience, that is what sells in Utah. I did notice a little vintage flair, which works for me sometimes. Sorry, they have a pretty cute website, but I am not smart enough to figure out how to steal pics from them.

Esromera Handbag

An extra bolt for my absence. I love this patent bag from Aldo. I noticed it was a little cheaper online. I would love it for my diaper bag, but I already have three. Is that overkill?

Tanger Outlet Online Coupons

Did you think that I went somewhere cool for the holiday weekend? I wish. Just a little too busy for the blogosphere the last couple of days. But, I did happen to make it to Park City's outlet mall today. Not sure as of when, but definitely since the last time I was there, great new additions that make the trip even more worthwhile. Aldo, Lucky Brand, Guess.....very excited about that. Anyhoo, I'm sure you all know about the outlet mall, but what you may not know is that you can get additional savings and find out about sales before you go on Tanger Outlet's website.

Root Beer Brewery

I don't drink anything carbonated. It's been so long since I consumed carbonation on a regular basis (we're talking a decade), that my stomach doesn't handle it so well, even from a sip. But, it seems as though homemade Root Beer has that perfect combination that sits well with my system. I am thinking that it would be fun to brew my own instead of dreaming about where I could find some with just the right amount of old fashioned flavoring. Any favorites out there to purchase tasty soda?

This website has everything you need to brew your own.

Utah Olympic Park

July 9 is PBTB's 30th birthday. I think I will take him to the Utah Olympic Park. I am not so into anything that causes my teeth to chatter with fear. So, I will use the excuse that I need to take pictures while he rides the bobsled, alpine slide, and zipline by himself. I think he will love it. He always likes to try and guess what he is getting or where I am taking him. Too bad he thinks blogging is such a waste of time and maybe he would have a pretty good chance this year :)
BTW I thought the prices were very decent and they also have an awesome camp for kids 9-14, 10 olympic sports in 4 days, sounds like fun.
